Shipping Packets
Virtual Participants – Your swag will ship after the event.
For all of you racing with us from afar, you get to start your event this weekend!
- Do the distance you signed up for whenever and wherever. That’s one of the perks of a virtual race. You can sleep in if you want!
- Do the event within Friday, May 13th – Sunday, May 20th; this gives you plenty of time to do multiple events and go for the BEAST medal!
- Running events – No matter which race you signed up for, you’ll have many options!
- Treadmill
- Mapping out a course around your neighborhood
- Use your smartwatch, GPS, or an app on your phone like RunKeeper or Strava.
- If you don’t have a device that will track your distance, you could always map the space by car or go to a track (4x around gets you 1 mile)
Things to Keep in Mind for Virtual Participants
Safety
Suppose you opt to go outdoors for running and/or biking. In that case, you must follow all traffic laws and pedestrian safety ordinances, including biking and/or running on a sidewalk or multi-use trail where available and not on the road. In addition, you must follow the rules of the road if no sidewalk or multi-use trail is available.
Helpful Tips:
- If you’re forced to be on the road, wear bright-colored clothing.
- While running or walking, run against oncoming traffic and not with traffic.
BEAST COINS
If you are doing the BEAST challenge, you can choose any 2 or 3 of the events to complete. Runners, you could do a 5K on Friday and the Half Marathon on Sunday for the Beast COIN. If you’re up for the ultimate Triple-headed Beast medal, you could do the 5K on Friday, Tour de Pacific on Saturday, and Half Marathon on Sunday. Earn the Beast Coin or, even better, the Why Racing Triple Beast Medal, special edition Jake the Alligator Man medal!

VOLUNTEERS
We still need a number of good volunteers. If you have family or friends coming to support you, ask them if they’d like to volunteer and get front-row seats to all the action. They can email Brock@whyracingevents.com if they are willing to help. Also, did you know that you could also race one day and volunteer on the other day and earn credits for future races? We love having athletes volunteer because you understand the needs of those racing and always take the role seriously. If you are racing on Sunday, it would be wonderful for you to come and help support the Kids Tri and Sunset 5K on Saturday, which will have many new and junior athletes racing. It would be a fabulous way to assist them and give them a great experience with our sport. If you volunteer or recruit a volunteer for us, you can earn a $20-$25 race credit towards a future race or a donation to a club/team/non-profit! Maybe some of our Tri Clubs would like to earn some $$ for a team party?! Remember, there’s no way we could put on this event without the help and support of our volunteer team, so please be extra nice to our course marshals, aid station helpers, body markers, and anyone helping out, including our Flaggers. Thank them as often as possible because we want them to all come back next year!
We are extremely humbled by the support and inspired by our community on a daily basis! Keep up your hard work at staying healthy and fit! We see you and appreciate you! We know there are a lot of events you could sign up for, and we appreciate that you picked Why Racing Events.
Thank you so much for your support!
