President / Motivational Mama
I have been participating in Triathlons and Runs for over 25 years. I love the feeling you get when you cross the finish line, I love training to reach for your best and knowing you gave it all you got and I love the camaraderie amongst participants as we share race stories and a common vision of finishing!
As the owner of Why Racing Events it's my goal to host events that are fun, family-friendly, safe, organized and provide a positive racing experience for all. You will often see me participating in our events as well as other events around the area - it's my form of quality control and getting ideas for our races- and I welcome feedback. Let me know what we did well and what we can do better so we can create world-class events.
I have a Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology, own a Fitness & Training studio and have been helping people adopt a healthy and fit lifestyle for more years than some of our athletes have been born! No matter what my role, "I believe in achieving dreams, challenging one's individual limits, training hard and becoming the best that you can be. When you make a commitment and focus your mind on any endeavor, anything is possible. Fitness and racing can make you feel alive and take you beyond your wildest dreams. I couldn't ask for a better career. To know that I've played a small part, directly or indirectly, in helping someone cross the finish line and the positive benefits of that is about as rewarding as it gets."

Marketing & Partnerships Director
I approach each Why Racing Event as a challenge to give our athletes an experience that they can’t wait to tell their friends and family about and they can’t wait to come back and do it again! With the amazing Why Racing Event team we have from start to finish of our events, it is my goal to make sure our athletes feel the WHY LOVE that we all provide.
Having grown up in the Northwest, knowing the local communities we host our events in gives us the cutting edge to provide this experience that our athletes have come to expect from Why Racing Events. I love to be part of the team that provides this in the Northwest.
It is a family affair, I can’t do this without my family around me. From my husband on course, to my family and friends either a sponsor, vendor, volunteer or athlete at each of our events my “WHY” is because I love the people! I love the competitive edge, I love to see people push their limits, I love the environment and I love our community.

Run Course Manager
As Why Racing Events Run Course Manager, my goal is ensuring that athletes at all of our events have a safe, well-marked and inspirational run! I’m a lifetime athlete and have competed in triathlons, runs and many other events for over 20 years. I take pride in approaching our run courses from the perspective of an athlete and competitor, so you’ll never have to guess which direction to turn or be surprised by a potential hazard. You can be confident that I have personally ridden and/or run every course that I’m responsible for to ensure it is marked clearly and accurately, with a little motivation sprinkled in for good measure! I am proud to be part of the Why Racing Events team and an amazing community of athletes!
In addition to my responsibilities with Why, I coach triathletes, runners and cyclists of all levels, and am currently training to achieve my goal to qualify for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships. I welcome your suggestions, feedback or ideas for how to make the run courses at Why Racing Events more enjoyable and stress-free. Contact me any time at firstname.lastname@example.org.
My WHY? To share my passion for triathlon and sport. To aim high and achieve. To stay fit, healthy, strong and balanced. To be inspired by all of you.
Swim Course Manager
I grew up in Texas on a huge lake where I started water-skiing at the old age of five and was taking the boat out by myself by the time I was twelve. I went into the Army my senior year of High School so I could graduate early. I spent six years in the Army as a Recovery Specialist. Not as ominous as it sounds. Basically whatever the Army could lose, break, or crash, I would go find and recover. During that time, I fell in love with scuba diving and surfing. I have actually had a Dive Master tell me that my certification card was older than he was, 1974. Now days I live in a floating home on Hayden Island and ski, wakeboard, and surf as often as possible. I took up kite boarding last year but still not very good at it yet, still learning something every day. Nowadays I am the Director of Engineering and Security at the Hotel Monaco here in Portland. I’ve worked with several hotels in my 35 years of doing this and have many stories that I am willing to share such as getting to meet three presidents over the years because of my security background. I look forward to seeing some old friends and meeting new friends on this next adventure.
My WHY? Anything water related...Paddle-boarding, surfing, wakeboarding, water-skiing, boating, kite-surfing, scuba diving and just hanging on the water.
