President / Motivational Mama
I have been participating in Triathlons and Runs for over 25 years. I love the feeling you get when you cross the finish line, I love training to reach for your best and knowing you gave it all you got and I love the camaraderie amongst participants as we share race stories and a common vision of finishing!
As the owner of Why Racing Events it's my goal to host events that are fun, family-friendly, safe, organized and provide a positive racing experience for all. You will often see me participating in our events as well as other events around the area - it's my form of quality control and getting ideas for our races- and I welcome feedback. Let me know what we did well and what we can do better so we can create world-class events.
I have a Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology, own a Fitness & Training studio and have been helping people adopt a healthy and fit lifestyle for more years than some of our athletes have been born! No matter what my role, "I believe in achieving dreams, challenging one's individual limits, training hard and becoming the best that you can be. When you make a commitment and focus your mind on any endeavor, anything is possible. Fitness and racing can make you feel alive and take you beyond your wildest dreams. I couldn't ask for a better career. To know that I've played a small part, directly or indirectly, in helping someone cross the finish line and the positive benefits of that is about as rewarding as it gets."

My Why? To set a positive example of fitness and vitality for my son, as well as show him the importance of giving back through action. To have the best volunteers and events in the area. To make new friends and connections.
I have been running since the age of 6 and completed my first marathon at age 12. I have logged nearly 40,000 miles during my running career including a 100 mile trail Ultra endurance race. I have always loved running, as it's a place to be free without limits or restrictions from the crazy world we live in. Along with being a part of the Why Racing Team, I have been a certified coach for many years and currently coach XC and Track at Ridgefield High School.
If you need to contact me, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
My WHY? I love to be a part of so many epic journeys that friends old and new alike are experiencing each and every day! Running makes us all equal in that we have all shared a struggle and a victory at some level. "It's not about the destination, it's about the journey!"

What is our Why? Life… Living life to the fullest is our Why!
As a couple that basically grew-up together and have navigated through this world together for the past 24 years, we continue to surprise ourselves and genuinely love competing together and working for Why Racing together. As a team, our goal is to support our athletes and volunteers and keep them hydrated on our course. We enjoy all life has to offer and we are very fortunate to live in the great Pacific Northwest and take advantage of all the amazing landscapes that surround us.
If it’s not a Why Racing Event you see us at, it may be at an ultra marathon trail event. We believe it takes a community host a race and we love this community we belong to.
When we are not on a course or a trail, we are in a gym or on a field supporting our two amazing kids and their passions. Life is short...play hard and GO RUN!
If you need to contact either one of us, please email email@example.com
Swim Course Manager
I grew up in Texas on a huge lake where I started water-skiing at the old age of five and was taking the boat out by myself by the time I was twelve. I went into the Army my senior year of High School so I could graduate early. I spent six years in the Army as a Recovery Specialist. Not as ominous as it sounds. Basically whatever the Army could lose, break, or crash, I would go find and recover. During that time, I fell in love with scuba diving and surfing. I have actually had a Dive Master tell me that my certification card was older than he was, 1974. Now days I live in a floating home on Hayden Island and ski, wakeboard, and surf as often as possible. I took up kite boarding last year but still not very good at it yet, still learning something every day. Nowadays I am the Director of Engineering and Security at the Hotel Monaco here in Portland. I’ve worked with several hotels in my 35 years of doing this and have many stories that I am willing to share such as getting to meet three presidents over the years because of my security background. I look forward to seeing some old friends and meeting new friends on this next adventure.
My WHY? Anything water related...Paddle-boarding, surfing, wakeboarding, water-skiing, boating, kite-surfing, scuba diving and just hanging on the water.
